Prayer for Peace

There is so much trying to steal the Lord’s Peace from us. I don’t know if anyone is exempt from some sort of anxiety right now. I know it is all felt in different ways but we are all touched by worry for loved ones who are sick or businesses in jeopardy or no income coming or the anxiety of being in isolation. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us:

“6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I’m feeling it. I’m unemployed along with most of the people in the film industry. I’m trying to figure out which bills to pay and which can wait as well as dealing with a host of other stressors just like you are doing. We’ve never gone through anything like this global crisis I know, but I’ve been in similar situations throughout the years. I know that prayer works but doesn’t always work the way we want it to and sometimes it takes longer for an answer than we are prepared to wait. However, I have experienced the immediacy of peace that comes by praying as the verse says, “with Thanksgiving.” Try it. See if, as you pray in gratitude for everything you have, whether you experience a peace that transcends your present circumstances.
