Prayer to be Spiritually Connected

I saw a briefing this morning by NY Governor Cuomo regarding the latest COVID19 updates. He ended the conference by saying “We need to stay socially distanced but spiritually connected - socially distanced. spiritually connected.” He went on to say, “ I’m not sure of the answer but that’s the question.”

So how do we stay socially distanced but spiritually connected? I think I know at least part of that answer to that question… PRAYER. For a long time, I’ve seen the power of prayer in my own life, in the lives of friends and families, and in the city. I’ve also seen that prayer is mysterious and misunderstood. I started this blog many years ago as a place to offer prayers for Miami (which I have done with suspect regularity). I realize that in this new time it may be more important than ever that we remember to pray not just for ourselves but to remember others in prayer … even people we don’t know. In that way we stay spiritually connected. Maybe you don’t know much about prayer. I know that I have a lot to learn. However, as a follower of Jesus I realized that we are called to pray without ceasing and also to not be anxious but in everything by prayer submit our requests to God in the name of Christ Jesus. That means all of us not just that woman in the War Room movie. This site will still be for prayers for Miami but I also want it to evolve into a conversation about prayer and a resource for prayer opportunities in Miami.

My hope is that in this time that the Christian Church would grow more spiritually connected than ever before - both with one another but also with their community, their city, and their neighbors. There will be lots more to pray about so please keep joining me here and in prayer. Feel free to post your own prayers in the comments as we pray together for the Church in Miami to become more Spiritually Connected.
