Prayer for At Risk Children
Father, You are our Father and you have adopted us as your children while we are yet sinners. As we consider the blessings in our lives and the love you have shown us may we be reminded of the many people in this city who don't know you. Lord as we are in the season of Advent and as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, give us a sense of what it must be like for the children of this city who don't have a family; or who don't have a home; or who suffer from abuse; or whose parents are afflicted with addictions. Remind us today of the children who not only need to know you, but who need to know what its like to be loved or what its like to simply smile. May we pause for a moment and cry, really cry, for the tender children of this city who wake up every morning in fear or for the children who go to sleep in pain or hunger. Soften our hearts as we consider the children in this city especially those who have been thrown into crisis. Give us your eyes as you look out over this city and see the children who so desperately need to know what its like to be cared for and loved. Father, encourage and strengthen them. Cover them with your protection. Send your angels to minister to them and use OUR hands to comfort and teach them. Strengthen your workers, Lord, and those who are dedicated to care for these children. Thank you for places like His House Children's Home - places where these children receive basic care and healing and where they are introduced to love. Please cover all of the children under their care and also their ministry teams. Provide families to foster and adopt teenagers and sibling groups. Bring families for the (currently 13) children in the His House residential facility waiting for a family and for those who are still yet to arrive. Lord, open doors of Miami's church communities and provide the opportunities for these Children to be fostered or adopted into families of believers. In the name of Jesus we ask this. Amen.
